Book Description
WHISPERS OF THE SOUL
...SOMETIMES GENTLE
...SOMETIMES FIERCE
A collection of poems that range from expressions of gratitude for the gifts of nature, to musings about aging and the fragility of life, to insights about women's issues and concerns, to observations about the complexities of family dynamics, to reflections about writing and therapy.
REVIEW
A beautiful selection of 65 poems (if I counted correctly that is!). My favourite poems that stood out to me for various reasons were:
An old story.
A lesson learnt.
Kindness.
Age spots.
Words.
Flattened.
A little too close.
Wording the process.
The poems range from expressions of gratitude for the gifts that nature gives us, musings about aging and the fragility of life to insights about women's issues and concerns to observations of family dynamics to reflection about writing and therapy. Some of the poems were about covid and the restrictions put upon us and I found the ones titled 'Flattened' and 'A Little Too Close' to be sadly very accurate in their descriptions. Whilst reading each of the poems it felt that Patricia was speaking directly to myself as a reader and also as a female. Each of the poems stirs the imagination whole Patricia conveys her message to you. The poems are beautifully written with a theme of childhood, womanhood, cancer and aging. They are each personal and reflective and as they are poems this book can be picked up throughout the day and night and read in any order you deem necessary. A beautiful collection of inspirational poems.
About The Author
Patricia Greer, MA, PhD, is a retired psychotherapist and Jungian analyst who has worked primarily with women for more than thirty-five years. She has listened to their stories and has felt privileged to walk with them on their paths of individuation, of becoming more fully and authentically themselves. Her newest book "Whispers of the Soul: New and Selected Poems" is a collection of poems that range from expressions of gratitude for the gifts of nature, to musings about aging and the fragility of life, to insights about women's issues and concerns, to observations about the complexities of family dynamics, to reflections about writing and therapy. She is the author of two previous books: "Breast Cancer, A Soul Journey," an exploration of the potential insights and wisdom that may be gained from a life crisis, and the companion volume, "Soul Play, A Workbook to Inspire and Guide Your Soul Journey." In her work, in her writing, and in her life, she has long been a seeker of soul, a journeyer who looks into and underneath ordinary moments to access a depth of understanding and meaning. https://www.PatriciaGreer.com
