Author: Diana Holbourn

Genres: Children's Fiction

Prices: PB: £10.99 EB: £1.99

Book Description

Book 1 in the brand new Becky Bexley - Child Genius series!

Even from the moment she was born, it was clear that Becky Bexley was not like other children. Her

family were shocked by her behaviour! Just a few years later, and she's in secondary school, often

seeming wiser than her teachers. She does her best to help people, whether they like it or not. She has

advice for her teachers when they want to give up smoking, gives a boy advice he uses to stop himself

being teased, and even gives the head master some advice on improving the school’s anti-bullying

strategy. She helps people outside school too, including rescuing her mum from a con artist, and she

even gets to go to the White House, where she ends up giving the president advice about his behaviour!

He invites her to help some politicians with the depression they have. But will a few tactless remarks

she makes and their own fierce disagreements unwittingly stirred up by some of the insights she tries

to pass on ruin her efforts? Becky's advice is based on genuine therapy techniques and psychological

research, and the books in this series combine humour with handy information.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Trying To Make The World A Better Place' by Diana Holborn.

Read and reviewed paperback for Diana Holbourn, Windy Seaside Publishing, Netgalley amd Literally PR.

Publication date: 13th June 2023.

This is the first book I have read by this author but won't be my last!!

This is a lovely read that covers a fantastic range of topics, many that are sensitive but that are very important to speak about too!! Diana has written it in a perfect way so the reader isn't overwhelmed with too much information at once and has broken it down into smaller sections so it can be read in small chunks.Although the book has serious topics Diana weaves them in between fun moments which is perfect as it stops it from being too "heavy" and serious a read while still conveying the importance of kindness and supporting others. The most important theme of this book is exactly what the title says and it is all about trying to make the world a better place which is definitely needed!! This book tells the story of Becky who started senior school at the age of just three as she was such a bright and mature child!!! Becky ends up giving advice to a boy who is bullied for having a limp and because of his sandwiches and ends up giving advice to the headmaster about bullying and how to deal with it. Becky also helps her parents with advise on saving water and dieting. Becky really is one of the best fictional role models I have ever met and my 10 year old son Malaki also enjoyed reading this book. Thankfully we have only had one bullying issue with him which was resolved but this book really is a great self help guide mainly for children but also fantastic for adults too. It is filled with positivity, encouragement, morals, positive vibes and so much more!! I absolutely adored this book and genuinely believe that there should be at least one copy kept in every doctor's surgery, nursery, playgroup, school, hospital, library and just, well everywhere!! This book should be read by every child, adult and to every child by an adult!! It is such a simple read but with such an absolutely VITAL messages, support and advise!!! I absolutely love seeing more books like this on the shelf that helps children in a easy to read and fun way. Paul does this with this lovely and funny children's book so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Diana on weaving such important topics into such a great book! A fantastic book that helps to try and make the world a better place encouraging the reader's too as well. A very cleverly constructed and well researched book that would have been amazing to have around while I was younger. I am definitely looking forward to reading more books in this fantastic series!!!

Amazon rates this book suitable for children 13-18 years old. I would rate from 10 to 18 years old.

Congratulations Diane on a lovely, fun and informative book that tackles so many important subjects.

Overall a fantastic, powerful and informative book suitable for children's and adults alike.

294 pages

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle and £10.99 in paperback via Amazon at time of review which I think is a bargain for this book.

Rated 5/5 ( We loved it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.
