Prologue
In the silence of the snowstorm, the agonised scream jangled every last nerve in Fiona’s body. She twisted round to look over her shoulder. With the wind at her back and leading the group, it was the only direction the scream could have come from. She saw two red shapes behind her. The closest would be her friend, Donna, and next to Donna would be one of the other hikers who’d joined them for the descent. The hike up to the knot of gathered people was a slog in these conditions, but Fiona gritted her teeth and followed Donna and the other red-jacketed hiker back uphill, to where they discovered the others: Five where there should be six.
Author Bio:
Graham Smith is a time served joiner who has built bridges, houses, dug drains and slated roofs to make ends meet. Since Christmas 2000, he has been manager of a busy hotel and wedding venue near Gretna Green, Scotland.
