'The Girls In The Snow' by Stacy Green

Title: The Girls in the Snow

Author: Stacy Green

PUBLICATION DAY: October 19th 2020

Description:

Madison walked through the fallen snow, looking left and right. It had been Kaylee’s idea to use the trail through the forest; she said no one would follow them. But Madison lost sight of Kaylee for a moment and when she found her again she wasn’t alone…

In the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota, you can scream for days and no one will hear you. So when the bodies of two fifteen-year-old girls are discovered frozen in the snow, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is sure the killer is local: someone knew where to hide the girls and thought they would never be found.

Though Nikki hasn’t been home in twenty years, she knows she must take over the case. The Sheriff’s department in Stillwater has already made a mistake by connecting the girls’ murders to those of a famous serial killer, refusing to consider the idea that the killer could be someone from town.

Then another girl’s body is found, a red silk ribbon tied in her hair, and Nikki realizes that the killer has a connection to her own dark past, and the reason she left Stillwater.

Nikki is not the only person in town who wants those secrets to stay hidden. Will she be able to face her demons before another child is taken?

Gripping and spine-chilling, The Girls in the Snow will make you gasp, unable to put it down until the final heart-pounding twist. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter, Lisa Gardner and Robert Dugoni.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Girls In The Snow' by Stacy Green.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 19th October 2020

This is the first book that I have read by this author. It is also the first book in the 'Nikki Hunt' series. It most definitely will not be my last!!!

I was originally drawn to this book by its arresting cover and intriguing sounding blurb. The description also stated that it was perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter among others. I'm a massive fan of Karin Slaughter so I'm interested to see if this book lives up to that powerful statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 51 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are a mix of short and medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is set in Minessota, USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonist is Special Agent Nikki Hunt. The positives of books written in third person perspective is that you get to see more of what is going on and what other characters are doing and feeling, building a bigger picture overall.

Wow!!! What an explosive start to what promises to be a fantastic new series!!! Very well written with fantastic descriptions this book had the perfect settings and a great storyline! The cover and blog suited the book perfectly.

The storyline started straight into the action and suckled me straight in where it kept me until the last page. Filled with murder, lies, suspense, action and many a red herring I didn't have a clue who did what which is a huge bonus when it comes to crime novels for me. There's nothing worse than working it all out and your not even half way through the book. I really am looking forward to the next episode in what is definitely looking like a fantastic series.

I loved the fact that the protagonist was a strong female who was not to be messed with. Although Nikki went through hell as a teenager and continued to do so in this book she was definitely not being dragged down. She had a massive personality and her team worked well together, each having their own individuality which is always great to see. All the characters were believable and worked really well with the story. I am looking forward to meeting most of them again in the next novel.

Another fantastic bookouture author who hits my favourite author list and another book I would love to see made into a movie!!!

Overall an absolute kick ass start to what promises to be a nail biting, action packed fantastic series!!

Genres covered in this novel include Mystery, Crime, Murder and Police Procedural among others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Karin Slaughter, M. J. Arlidge, P. J. Tracy and anyone after an action packed crime book.

320 pages.

This book is 99p to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.
