After a messy split with her partner, Rebecca decides to sign up to an adventure weekend in Scotland, and ropes her reluctant friend, Phoebe, into joining her.
After travelling to an unknown location in the wildness, the pair are grouped with other entrants and given the task of hiking to their first checkpoint—a campsite where they will receive further instructions.
Then one of their team, a brooding man called Luke Vance, drops a bombshell on them. He tells them that a squad of armed people will be pursuing them come daybreak and their game is an altogether different one. They are twisted deviants who desire only to hunt and kill.
The group refuses to believe Luke, but they are prepared to play along, convinced he is an actor that has been planted by the organisers of the event, and the entire thing is all part of the wild experience. But when one of the group vanishes, the participants panic.
But even if there are killers on their tail, first they need to survive the tough terrain, treacherous weather… and perhaps hardest of all, each other.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won't be my last!!!
This novella consists of 33 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
'Survival Weekend' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Robert discusses/includes graphic violence, drug use and disturbing scenes.

The storyline is extremely fast, addictive and filled with suspense and tension. I've always fancied the idea of escape rooms and survival weekends but I think this novella has just put me off!!! However, I absolutely loved the absolutely explosive storyline which was unique and filled with the perfect amount of gore and horror. I had absolutely no idea who to trust or what the end game was!! Along with being unique and EXPLOSIVE it is also an extremely fast paced thriller filled with suspense!! It started with a very chilling prologue and the pace kept getting faster and faster making it feel like the reader is on a rollercoaster ride!!! I couldn't read the book fast enough and was flipping the 'pages' until early in the morning. I was not expecting the explosive secrets that were scattered throughout !! There is no way in hell I would have worked out that absolutely bombshell ending!!! I was absolutely mind blown and gobsmacked!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS 👏 to Robert on that as it is getting harder and harder to surprise me with all the crime and psychological thrillers I have read but you managed it hook, line and sinker!!! I won't say any more than that as don't want to spoil it for future readers but I was absolutely shocked!! It is ram packed with mystery, secrets, lies, drama, crime, twists , murder, suspense, mind blowing surprises and everything you could want in a psychological thriller!! Robert's evocative writing skills sucks the reader straight into the storyline and had my heart pounding and me biting my nails on the edge of my seat!!! I was completely invested in the storyline and just had to know what was going to happen. I gave up counting how many times I told myself one more chapter just to HAD to know what happened next as this happened over and over until I ended up devouring the whole book in one sitting!!!
This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Finlay Robertson who did a great job bringing this story to life and creating extra tension and suspense throughout. I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity and Finlay did a fantastic job on both male and female characters voices along with accents!!! I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by Robert but also to listening to more books narrated by Finlay!
Robert's evocative writing skills brings each of them to life making them jump out of the pages while you are swept away on this epic page turner!!! I had no idea which characters to trust, like and/or hate and Robert evoked so many different feelings for each of the characters as well as different emotions in all the many scenarios and scenes!!! They all had their own unique personalities and all brought something different into the storyline. Whether they can be trusted or not is up to you to decide. Regardless of how you feel about any of the characters they all played their parts perfectly to create this absolutely addictive page turner and I would love to 'meet' many of them again!!!! I cannot wait to get stuck in to this amazingly talented author's next book!!!!
Do not pick this up until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!

Author Bio
Robert was born in 1979 and lives in Kent with his wife, children, and bonkers dalmatian, Dexter.
He ran a private investigation agency for over fifteen years, dealing in cases that involved breach of contract claims, commercial debt recovery, and process serving. Robert’s agency also specialised in people tracing; so much of his work revolved around tracking down debtors, dealing in adoption matters, and locating missing persons. At times, he worked on some pretty bizarre cases and dealt with plenty of interesting and sometimes colourful individuals.
Since 2014, Robert has worked self-employed in the pet care industry, and is a keen trail runner, mountain biker and kayaker. Robert has a huge passion for screenwriting for many years and started writing novels during the first lockdown.
