This is the Jaret's debut book.
I absolutely loved this adorable book that is not only filled with eye catching and colourful illustrations but tells an important story about diversity, families and inclusion in a suitable way for young children to understand. It is vital in this world for children to understand that you don't need two parents to have a fantastic childhood. I genuinely believe that there should be at least one copy kept in every doctor's surgery, nursery, playgroup, school, hospital, library and just, well everywhere!! This book should be read by every child, adult and to every child by an adult!! It is such a simple read but with such an absolutely VITAL message!!! It is a fantastic children's story about inclusion, diversity, kindness and simplifying differences in a way that young children can understand. Shay has just turned 5 years old and tells us all about how her mum did everything for her birthday but not only that she also tells us how her Gran has a pink toolbox and that she does her own fixing including her car and heavy lifting. We also find out about her friend Nala who has two mums. The main message is that it is OK for everyone to have different families whether that is A Mum and Dad, A Single Mum, A Single Dad, Two Mums, Two Dads, Stepparents, it doesn't matter as family is family regardless of who they consist of. The other important message that I absolutely LOVE is that "Women Have To Be Stronger Than Pretty!".
The illustrations were absolutely fantastic!! They were so colourfully and eye catching and it was great fun pointing out everything in them to my children so a HUGE congratulations to not only the author Jaret for creating a fun, lively book but filled with important messages but also to Mery for illustrating it perfectly!! Every page has brightly coloured pictures alongside the story which is typed in a nice bold black font which encourages children to read along with their parents. Amazon recommends a reading age from 3 to 7 which is one I would agree with in general but it wouldn't do any harm to read this book to a child from birth or to encourage older children to also read it. You are never too old to read about being inclusive as families are always changing. I absolutely love the message of empowerment as well as the fact that this book has been dedicated to Jaret's own mother Donna who has sadly passed away but taught him the power of women and he has passed this message on to his daughter Shay, who the main character is named after, along with anyone and everyone who reads this book!!!
I really cannot compliments this book enough and am actually struggling to put into words how important it is for this book to be read by so many people.
The language the author uses is perfect to allow children to understand along with the absolutely brilliant eye catching illustrations. In creating this extremely thoughtful book these two amazing people have gone on to promote kindness, acceptance, love, empowerment and inclusion which is absolutely amazing and I am hoping they will work together again shortly to continue to help and teach children and adults more lessons filled with important messages!!! I'm looking forward to reading more of this great author and illustrators books!!!

Today his journey as an artist includes writing and producing Films in an effort to bring awareness to subject matters deserving attention.
