BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Santa's Early Christmas' written by Lily Lawson and illustrated by Gustyawan.

Read and reviewed for Lily Lawson, Gustyawan, The Wright House and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.

Publication date: 5th November 2022.

This is the second book we have read by this author and illustrator. We have also read 'The Palm Tree Swinger's Island Band' which we all also loved.

This book is such a lovely, festive and beautiful book for baby, children and adults alike. I absolutely loved the fact that the story rhymes as did my three children, 5 year old twins and 10 year old. My children also had lots of fun trying to guess what the next rhyming word was going to be which is also a fantastic way to not only encourage children to read but also to help them enjoy reading plus learning new words and about rhyming words. The book is perfect for younger children as the story is written in bold and easy to read type. I have read some children's books that has fonts which we have all struggled to read which has been a disappointment for us all. It tells the story of how Santa indulges in so many Christmas treats, traditions and festivities he gets very tired and runs the risk of sleeping of Christmas!! Can he make his deliveries on time??

The illustrations are absolutely delightful, eye catching and with loads of objects to point out, describe and discuss with your children. It really is a fun book to read and perfect with Christmas just around the corner. It would make a fantastic stocking filler or Christmas Eve story to read around the tree!!! It wasn't just myself that enjoyed reading it but my 10 year old son and also one of my 5 year old twin boys. It was written in a way that is easy for children and adults to read and we all took it in turns to read a page (my other twin boy is non-verbal, they both have autism). Malaki and Hunter loved looking and naming all the different items in the background. We had lots of fun naming all the different things that the children could see in the photos and naming all the colours. It is a fantastic book and I would say it is suitable for any child from new-born up. This book is lovely and short and can be a quick read or be made into a fun long read whichever the reader wishes. It would be a great book for children to be read to by their teachers in school as well as friends and family members. It also includes two lovely and amusing rhymes at the back with a twist in 'You Better Watch Out' and 'Christmas Tingles'. Let your children's imaginations come alive with this beautiful festive book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lily to my children and hope that she is busy writing and Gustyawan illustrating the next one already!

My 10 year old son Malaki had this to say about this book:

I really enjoyed reading this book. I really liked the pictures of Santa and his reindeer and it was very funny seeing Santa eat so much!!! I really liked the poem 'Christmas Tingles' and thought it was cool!! The pictures were really bright and colourful and I thought the story itself was lots of fun with loads of rhyming too. It really is a fun Christmas book that made me look forward to Christmas even more!!! I really enjoyed reading it to my brothers who are 5 year old and loved showing them the pictures which they liked too.

Amazon rates this book suitable for children 3-8 years old. I would rate from baby to 10 years old.

Congratulations Lily on writing a gorgeous book and Gustyawan for the stunning illustrations. Here is to both of your next success' 🥂

Overall a beautifully illustrated, fun, rhyming and festive children's book.
