'Rivalry Gone Wrong' by L.C Turner

Book Description

These cheer moms are not content to sit on the sidelines.

Abby Winters is not your typical cheer mom. She doesn't have time to micromanage her daughter's competitive cheer group.

She's got her business, Scoops Ice Cream Shop, to run.

But when a rival team's coach turns up dead and all signs point to murder, Abby wants to make sure her daughter is safe.

Can she catch the killer before they strike again or is the culprit going to murder the competition?

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Rivalry Gone Wrong' by L.C. Turner.

Read and reviewed for ZooLoos Book TOURS and L.C. Turner.

Publication date 10th January 2023. HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY LAINA!!

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the first book in the 'Cheer Moms Mysteries' series.

I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing sounding synopsis and title.

This novel consists of a 20 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in the fictional town of Kindville, USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in first person perspective with the main protagonist being Abby Winters. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on.

This book is a very fast paced, fun and page turning read. It is an absolutely fantastic start to what is promising to be an addictive series and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to the next 4 books in the series which are called 'Even The Score', 'Silence The Cheers', 'Cheerleading Is Killer' and 'It's About The Hit'. The storyline is unique and intriguing and also scarily believable and realistic as I've watched a few programmes on how competitive sports such as Cheerleading and modelling can be!! It is filled with murder, romance, family, cheerleading and ice cream!! I love the fact that Abby owns an ice cream shop which adds to the fun as you get to see her making different flavours. It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too. However, this wasn't a problem with this book and I enjoyed getting to know who everyone was. They were all strong and realistic and I really liked Abby and am looking forward to meeting her again. I enjoyed seeing her friendship develop with Detective Barrett and am looking forward to seeing if it turns into more. I found him down to Earth, friendly and interesting so fingers crossed Abby finally finds some happiness with him. I was shocked when I found out who the killer was as I was not expecting that at all. Its always nice to be surprised in a crime book so well done L.C Turner as I have read so many crime books it is getting harder and harder to surprise me!!

An absolutely fantastic start to what promises to be an addictive series!!

Author Bio

As a child, L.C. thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.

Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.

She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.

She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. She lives in Indiana with her husband, kids and two very spoiled dogs.

L.C. previously published her cozy mysteries under Laina Turner.
