Book Description
Comedy is everywhere if you allow yourself to see it—to feel it. It can be subtle or overt, dark or joyous, adorable or cheeky. Such ageless versatility is beyond compare. Curated with that in mind, author R.A. Clarke proudly presents sixteen humorous stories to the world.
Between these covers, you'll find short fiction in several genres. Each tale is infused with unique characters and comical situations, some rooted in reality, others certainly not. Flip the page and join a jewel heist executed by bumbling thieves at a gastronomy party, meet a lowly soul gifted the fantastical chance to redo an all-consuming moment of regret, or sweat alongside a father as he realizes his daughter is growing up too fast. Turn another page and you’ll enjoy clowning around while meeting Mr. Right, then zoom in on a perfectly focused meet cute, or feel Mother Nature’s wrath as a rebellious fishing excursion goes all kinds of wrong. There is something in this collection for everyone to enjoy, including eight never-before-seen stories.
Allow yourself to be entertained and whisked away. Let humour in all its glorious forms tempt your lips to move. Don’t fight the urge. Embrace it. Go ahead and let your lips twitch.

This is the first book I have read by this author.
This novel consists of 16 humorous short stories. The stories are short in length so easy to read 'just one more story' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
A lovely collection of 16 short stories filled with a mixture of fun stories with a range of genres that will make you smile, giggle or laugh out loud!! As I always do with books of short stories or poems I will rate them individually and then give an overall rating at the end.
These are the stories that are included in order, a short description of what they are about and my rating:
😂 A Friend in Need - A funny, sweet and romantic story about two lots of friends getting their friends to meet up with their dates to check them out before hand. They communicate via "spy glasses" and a ear piece to tell them what they need to say. However all isn't as it seems. A great funny story to kick this book off which had me giggling a few times.. I've got to give this one a 5/5.
😏 Shelf Help - This has to be one of the strangest stories I have ever read!! Books in a library communicating with each other and with personalities like their titles such as "Live Phobia Free: Finding Relief from Fear that Plagues You" sees a spider, screams and then gives the explanation of arachnophobia. One book realises they may not be practising what they preach. A really unique story and perfect for book lovers!!This one gets a 4/5 from me.
🙄Don't Pop Till You Get Enough - umm... OK I'll be honest I didn't get this one. Awkward and shy Charlie's first dance goes wrong but ends up right for him. This one only achieved a 1/5 from me.
😏Date Night - A Dad is having a date night with his girlfriend when he discovers something in his bathroom and assumes it's his girlfriends but it turns out his daughters and he is not impressed. Quite a funny turn out. This one gets a 3/5 from me
🙂 Moments to Cherish - Quite a funny story about an artistic toddler with unconventional methods. This takes me back to my days of working in care when you have to have your eye on the ball at all times! This would also make a good tale at stand up comedy.. A 3/5 from me.
🙂 For King and Cookies - This is quite a fun story about 2 Mums trying to get some peace while their children go off on a magical adventure. I cant say that I found it funny but it was still quite a nice story so it gets 3/5 from me.
♥️Red Nose and a Party Dress - I really liked this one and it definitely had me smiling away. Emily goes to her friends daughters birthday party ready to spend time with the birthday girl while maybe finding herself a new man. Disaster strikes when the clown does a disappearing act but a friend saves the day capturing more than just the kids hearts. A real feel good story which has to get a 4/5 from me!!
😂 Spicing Things Up - OMG!! Absolutely LOVED this one!!! This definitely had me laughing out loud with the ending!! Honestly, it is just so TRUE as well!!! I have said this sooooooo many times how men who want this only want it one way. Absolutely brilliant...and tempting to do myself. Definitely earns a 5/5 and my favourite so far!!
😂 Pinching Pennies - A method actor gets the part of a horse's rear when something starts to go wrong with his own!! This made me LOL and if you like toilet humour you will love this one!! Another 5/5 from me!!
🙂 To Fluff or Not to Fluff - Steve gets the wrong end of the stick when putting the Christmas tree up and does the complete opposite of what he is meant to be doing. typical men! An extremely quick story at just 2 pages. This one made me smile and gets a 3/5
♥ Mr Regret - This was definitely an interesting story. I wouldn't say it is one to make you laugh or smile but definitely has a moral to it to have no regrets!!! It may not have the smile factor but I think it still deserves a 4/5 for being a good story!
😂 Jeremiah Rabbit - This story definitely tickled me and had me chuckling away!! It just goes to show the sexy Jessica rabbit we all know and love is not quite to every mans taste! This one gets a 4/5
😂 Echo Lake - I really liked this unique take on 'The princess and the frog' story. Helen's husband Clyde disobeys Mother Nature and as punishment gets turned into a fish. Helen then spends years kissing every fish in Echo Lake to try and find him and bring him back. A lovely story that gets 4/5 from me.
😂 A Not So Silent Night - An adults Christmas story filled with double entendre that definitely had me laughing out loud with the "Santa's Sausage". This one gets a 4/5 from me.
🙂 Happy Accident - A couple go to a Gastronomy party to try to steal some jewellery to find out the food was just the first half before the second part swung into motion. It doesn't take long before disaster strikes but ends with a happy accident! I did have a chuckle at this one so it gets a 3/5 from me.
🙂 Clicking - Aw such a sweet story which ends the book in a lovely way and definitely had me smiling. Shane is an animal loving photographer who's ex girlfriend slates him in the papers for having more interest in taking photos than of her. This knocks Shanes confidence but he's delighted to go out and try and get photos of a fox family at a fox den he has scoped out. When he goes out one night he gets more than he bargained for. A lovely story and a lovely ending to this book so this one gets a 5/5 from me.
An excellent selection of stories which are a mix of giggle funny and LOL hilarious and each filled with different themes and emotions from dating to anxiety, extreme embarrassment to wanting to end it all. It is filled with friendship, humour, love, laughter and so much more!!
As is the case of all books filled with short stories or poems it is very rare to like them all as they are all so different from each other and will attract different audiences. In my case my favourite stories just have to be 'A Friend In Need', 'Spicing Things Up', 'Pinching Pennies' and 'Clicking' for different reasons whereas I just didn't 'click' with 'Don't Pop Until You Get Enough'. That doesn't mean there was anything wrong with that story and for others that may be their favourite while they dislike 'Spicing Things Up'. That is one of the great things about short stories, there is always something for everyone.
Most of these stories are uplifting and there to make you smile and laugh which makes the title perfect for this book! I read this book in a couple of hours and it can easily be read just as quickly or you can just read a story a day, another great thing about a book of short stories is that it can last as long or as short as you wish it to.
They say laughter is the best medicine so lay down, get comfy, pick up a cup of tea or glass of wine and get ready for medication time! Rachael has excellent writing skills and I look forward to reading more of her work! The average rating for all the story ratings is 3.5 so I give the overall book a 4/5 rating .
Grab your copy of 'Let Your Lips Twitch' and discover which stories you love!!! I am looking forward to reading more books by Rachael and would definitely giving this one ago to find your story!
Overall a fantastic collection of short stories that will have you smiling, giggling away and laughing until your crying!!
