Book Description
Home to Brambleberry Creek: An absolutely gorgeous page-turner, filled with family secrets
Everyone has one moment that will change their life forever…
A completely heart-warming, emotional page-turner about finding your place in the world, the importance of family and the joy of discovering love when you least expect it. Perfect for fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Elin Hilderbrand and Susan Mallery.
Morgan Jo Coyle has been trying to escape her past for the last five years. She’s built a successful career for herself in the city but she still longs for the open fields and beautiful skies of Brambleberry Creek, the small town in Kentucky where she grew up. So when she receives a heart-breaking call from her mother, telling her that her Memaw Essie is on her deathbed, Morgan drops everything to go home and face her family—before it’s too late.
Stepping through the door of her memaw’s charming old farmhouse, Morgan is reminded of all the happy times she spent baking with Essie. And it’s not long before her childhood sweetheart, Emmett Dawson, with his sparkling blue eyes and teasing smile, comes to find her. It almost starts to feel like old times as Morgan and Emmett spend long summer evenings together eating berries by the water. But a lot has happened since they last saw each other. Can their relationship really be reignited after all this time?
The sprawling Kentucky countryside also brings memories of the fateful accident that Essie was responsible for: the day that changed Morgan’s world forever and drove her away from her family, Emmett and everything she loved…
With Essie in the hospital, Morgan tries to forgive her. It’s only when she discovers an ink-stained letter written in her memaw’s distinctive hand that she finally starts to understand the truth behind the moment that tore the two women apart.
Will the unraveling of a shocking family secret help Morgan to reunite her family and find a future with Emmett in Brambleberry Creek? Or will she leave the rolling hills of Kentucky for good?
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Home To Brambleberry Creek' by Elizabeth Bromke.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Elizabeth Bromke, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 26th July 2022.
This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the first book in the 'Brambleberry Creek' series.
I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful, eye catching cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Elin Hilderbrand and Susan Mallery.' I am a huge fan of Susan Mallery so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a prologue and 43 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in Arizona and Kentucky, USA 🇺🇸.
This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonist Essie Coyle and Morgan Jo Coyle. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
This book is very well written with vivid descriptions that helps the reader see the river flowing. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
This book is a slow burner but does pick up later on into the storyline. I absolutely loved visiting the gorgeous atmosphere of Brambleberry Creek. I would have loved to move in myself as it just sounded absolutely gorgeous!! The storyline is about learning to confront your past and accept forgiveness. It is filled with family, secrets, love, tragedy, romance, loss, second chances, mysteries, heartache and so much more. It is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. The pace was absolutely perfect and I was devasted when I came to the end and realised I had to pack my bags and leave Brambleberry Creek.
The characters were are well defined, strong and realistic. I became completely invested in not only Morgan Jo and Essie but the whole Brambleberry Creek family. It was intriguing to see the complex relationship each different family member had to each other and to watch them change and develop as the story unfolded. Morgan Jo and Essie are the main characters that this book is based in and we read about their past difficulties, challenges and experiences throughout the book, which made them into the people we "meet" in the present sections. The reader is given hints through the past chapters to what has happened before all is revealed. I won't say any more as I don't want to risk dropping any hints myself for future readers.
Overall an emotional story of tragedy, love, loss, family and forgiveness.
Genres covered in this book include Women's Popular Fiction, Women's Literary Fiction and Family Life Fiction and Romance amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Elin Hilderbrand and Susan Mallery.
278 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle or free on kindle unlimited (at time of review) via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
