Book Description
How do you get over the loss of your husband? And not only your husband but your home too and all
the trappings of your old existence?
Gennie moves back to Cornwall in search of a fresh start. Working for Marion’s children’s charity
seems perfect. Tucked away in the countryside, close to an artists’ community, it’s a place for Gennie
and her daughter, Alice, to rebuild their lives in peace and quiet – until ex-soldier Jack comes along
with the same idea in mind, a face from the past, forcing Gennie to confront things she would rather
forget and igniting fears of another turbulent relationship.
Involving herself with Jack and his problems is the last thing she needs, not now she’s made new
friends and opportunities are opening up again, but can either find happiness and a new direction
without the other?

Review for 'Finding Jack' by Sofia Due.
Read and reviewed for Sofia Due, The Book Guild Ltd, NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.
Publication date 19th September 2023
This is the first book I have read by this author but it most certainly won't be my last!!!
This novel consists of 60 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
'Finding Jack' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Sofia discusses/includes grief, addiction , war, loss and alcoholism.
What an absolutely stunning read by the extremely talented Sofia Due!!! A beautiful and emotionally charged book!!! The vivid descriptions left me feeling the fresh air of Cornwall and feeling the sea breeze. This may be the first book I have read by this incredible author but it most certainly won't be my last!!!The title, synopsis and cover suited the storyline perfectly.
This book is absolutely rammed full of second chances, heartache, romance, happiness, friendship, community, addiction, scenery, loss, emotions and so, so much more!!! Its one of the most heart-warming, heartbreaking, emotional and beautiful books I've read in a long time. It made me laugh, cry, smile and fall in love with Cornwall and the characters. I absolutely loved the gorgeous atmosphere and surroundings being based in the beautiful Cornwall. Sofia's evocative writing talents ensures the reader is flown away on holiday where they feel the sand on their toes, hear the crashing of the waves, feel their hearts beating faster with Gennie's and will leave you tingling with warmth, smiling with happiness, crying with heartbreak and light hearted all at once!! It is one of those stunning books that it is impossible to say just one more chapter to. I gave up even trying to lie to myself saying just one more in the end as every time I came to the end of one chapter I just HAD to know what was going to happen next and this ended up happening so many times I ended up devouring the whole book in a several hour sitting!! I just could not put my kindle down and I was absolutely gutted when I came to the end of the book! It genuinely felt like I had escaped rainy Wales for a few hours and was soaking up the sun and sea air in the beautiful Cornwall. I've not long come back from holiday in Looe, Cornwall, myself and found myself back there in the blink of an eye. Sofia covers several tough topics such as war and addiction but does so sensitively and has clearly done plenty of research on the subjects which is always a must when touching on sensitive topics. The storyline was sweet, romantic, emotional, uplifting and everything you want in a book and I completely fell head over heels in love!!! An absolute must read!!
Clear your schedules and have your tissues at the ready before picking up this stunning page turner as you won't be able to put it down and will get lost on this gorgeous rollercoaster ride of emotions!!!
The characters were all strong, well defined and realistic. I fell in love with the majority of them, even if some took longer than others!! I was gutted when I came to the end and had to say my goodbyes to them all. My heart went out to the two main protagonists Gennie and Jack for just so many reasons!!!! They have both been through so much trauma that even as a reader, with Sofia's beautiful evocative writing skills you can feel your heart break and beat faster along with them. Gennie is such a sweetheart, caring, lovable, friendly and a true heroine. Jack is vulnerable and grouchy at times but has a huge heart and playful and humorous personality makes you love this hero more and more as you go deeper and deeper into the storyline. It was beautiful watching their relationship/ friendship develop and change throughout the pages and I was rooting for them both throughout. They are such intriguing, amazing and larger than life characters that will stay with me for a very long time!!! It wasn't just the main two characters that I enjoyed meeting, getting to know and falling in love with but many others with just some including the sweet little dog Roxy, Alice, Hamid, Claire and more. They all jump out of the pages and fill you with so many see different emotions. An amazing group of memorable, realistic characters that will stay with you for years to come.
Get wrapped up warm, put the fire on, make your self a hot chocolate or get your towel and book ready and relax on the beach and clear your schedule ready to get lost in this unputdownable heart warming, emotional gorgeous romantic!
Well done Sofia on an absolutely gorgeous book. This is exactly why I would like you to my favourite authors list!!! I am thoroughly looking forward to reading more of your books past and future. Congratulations on a beautiful success!!
