Emma and Bob by Ágnes Horváth. Review.

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

Book Description

You are perfect and wonderful just the way you are! And the key to your life is in your

hands. Don’t know what that means? You can live a joyful and full life. You can calm

your emotional storms and the thoughts swirling in your head. You can find deep peace

even when you are hurt or grieving. Don’t know how? Let the story of Emma and Bob

guide you.

Thanks to their curiosity, Emma and Bob’s ordinary holiday becomes extraordinary. In

addition to enjoying time at the beach, in the forest and at home, Gran explains to

them ‘the endless cycle of life’ and the importance of ‘self-kindness’, ‘positive thinking’,

‘listening to your heart’ and ‘being present’. You can learn these too, just open your

mind and heart.

You’ll find that even simple things like breathing, a sandcastle, half a glass of lemonade

or a little flower can teach you things about yourself and life that you may have never

heard before.

A book not only for children 9+, but also for adults. A book about life, some of its

difficulties and how we can shape our lives to become full, joyful and peaceful, no

matter what.

Although everyone is equally valuable and indispensable, many children and adults

don’t believe they are good, smart or beautiful enough. And they are unaware of the

power that lies deep within everyone. This book shows them how amazing and

powerful they are.

The book is easy to read and understand, thanks to the simple language, realistic

situations and detailed explanations.

- self-compassion (self-acceptance, self-kindness, mindfulness, common humanity)

- the power of mind, heart and ‘now’

- positive thinking

- emotions and thoughts

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Emma And Bob' by Ágnes Horváth.

Read and reviewed for Ágnes Horváth, Brown Dog Books and Literally PR.

Publication date: 29th November 2023.

This is the first book we have read by this author but it definitely won't be out last!!!

This book is such a lovely, important and beautiful book for baby, children and adults alike. One of the things that I really liked about this book and what stood out for me is the fact that it carries several important messages but in a way that is very child friendly. It teaches children all about inner peace, gratitude, self acceptance, about being present in the moment, grief and death, being kind to yourself and others, intuition, thoughts and emotions, mindfulness, perfection and beauty, our invisible essence, common humanity, positive thinking , the power of mind and heart and so, so much more!! It is filled with vital messages that are important for all children and adults alike and Ágnes manages to weave it all into a lovely story with beautiful illustrations throughout. The illustrations are absolutely delightful, eye catching and with loads of objects to point out, describe and discuss with your children. It really is a fun book to read and perfect with Christmas just around the corner. It would make a fantastic stocking filler or Christmas present!! This is the type of book that should be made available in every school, doctors surgery, library, nursery and absolutely anywhere and everywhere for adults and children to be able to access and read. It wasn't just myself that enjoyed reading it but my 10 year old son. It was written in a way that is easy for children and adults to read and we all took it in turns to read a page.

Malaki and Hunter loved looking and naming all the different items in the background. We had lots of fun naming all the different things that the children could see in the photos and naming all the colours. It is a fantastic book and I would say it is suitable for any child from new-born up. This book is lovely and short and can be a quick read or be made into a fun long read whichever the reader wishes. The font is a nice style and size making it easy for adults and children to see and read too which is definitely a bonus as I have struggled with some fonts that authors have used in children's books in the past. It would be a great book for children to be read to by their teachers in school as well as friends and family members. Let your children's imaginations and thoughts come alive with this beautiful book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Ágnes to my children and hope that she is busy writing the next one already!

My 10 year old son Malaki had this to say about this book:

I really enjoyed reading this book. The pictures were really bright and colourful and I thought the story itself was fun but also filled with lots of good things that we can all learn. I liked how it talked about accepting yourself and that everyone is beautiful and unique. I really enjoyed reading it to my brothers who are 6 years old and loved showing them the pictures which they liked too.

Amazon rates this book suitable for 9 years and up. I would rate from 8 years old to 999 years old.

Overall a beautifully illustrated book filled with important messages weaved into a lovely story for children and adults alike.

Author Bio

Ágnes Horváth followed her heart when she wrote her first book, ‘Emma and Bob’.

After many years of helping mostly adults as a nurse, care assistant and currently a

nursing associate, she became passionate about helping children as well, in a very

different way. Over the last decade, she discovered our true essence beyond thoughts

and personality, why we perceive the world and our experiences the way we do, and

how we can influence our lives. She learns from her own experiences, from well-known

spiritual teachers and scientists (E. Tolle, Mooji, L.L. Hay, Dr J. Dispenza, Dr B. Lipton,

G. Braden…) and from an excellent psychotherapist. She enjoys spending time in

nature.
