Book Description:
Snow is falling on Little Newdale; decorations are being hung and joy is in the air. But at Red Robin Cottage, Sarah is feeling far from merry and bright…
Since her marriage went up in flames like a Christmas pudding, there’s nothing Sarah Dunne wants more than a peaceful festive season filled with carols and mince pies. But Sarah’s teenage daughter Ellie is feeling the winter blues, faced with spending the holiday without her father.
Desperate to bring home some seasonal cheer and make this a Christmas to remember for Ellie, Sarah follows the trail of fairy lights into the snow-covered village. Among the holiday crowds she finds herself gazing into the soft brown eyes of a handsome stranger whose smile is startlingly familiar. It couldn’t really be her childhood sweetheart, Luke, could it?
Even though he moved half a world away nineteen years ago, as they bond over hot chocolate and tales of traumatic break-ups it’s clear time hasn’t changed Luke’s effortless charm. And when he saves Sarah from a wardrobe malfunction at a Christmas party, it’s not just the mulled wine warming her heart. But she can’t let herself fall in love again. Especially as Luke isn’t here to stay…
Then Ellie reveals she’s been keeping a BIG secret about Sarah’s ex. Reeling, Sarah longs to turn to Luke for comfort. But will that put her already fragile relationship with her daughter at risk, and chase Luke away even faster? Or will opening her heart mean Sarah gets her wish for a magical Christmas after all?
Grab a blanket and a mug of cocoa and curl up by the fire with this completely addictive festive romance. Fans of Cathy Bramley, Phillipa Ashley and Heidi Swain will love this charming, feel-good holiday read that proves you don’t need the perfect family to have a perfect Christmas!
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Christmas At Red Robin Cottage' by Sue Roberts.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Sue Roberts, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 30th September 2022.
This is the fifth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'Going Greek', 'Greece Actually', 'Take A Chance On Greece' and 'What Happens In Greece' which I also highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover, its intriguing synopsis and title and its extremely talented author. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Fans of Cathy Bramley, Phillipa Ashley and Heidi Swain will love this charming, feel-good holiday read that proves you don’t need the perfect family to have a perfect Christmas!' I am a huge fan of Heidi Swain so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Sue Roberts and if this is half as good as 'Going Greek', 'Greece Actually', 'What Happens In Greece' and 'Take A Chance On Greece' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 37 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is written in first person perspective and the main protagonist is Sarah. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them.
Awww yet another absolutely fantastically gorgeous book Sue, Well done!!!!
This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Red Robin Cottage and really sucks you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the warmth of the the sun and smell of the sea. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.
The storyline is authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heartwarming. There was plenty of events going on throughout and it kept me hooked from start to end, I read it in one sitting as every time I went to put it down I just had to pick it back up to see what was going to happen next. It was was heartwarming, charming and had love, relationships, family, friendship some drama thrown in. I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end of this book as I was truly whisked away into this stunning storyline. The storyline was so heartwarming and it was such an easy and relaxing read with moments of laughter, some tension and sadness but overall happiness. It ended absolutely perfectly with everything coming together. This really is the perfect book to read curled up by the fire and will definitely get you in the festive mood!! This is the first book I have read this year that mentions snow and Christmas and I've now started singing Christmas songs and looking for Christmas movies on TV, I'm just gutted this isn't a movie.... Yet... Hint hint Sue 😉. All of the books I have read by Sue so far have all been based in Greece but this talented lady can have you picturing snow and Christmas just as amazing as she puts you on a Greece Island!! A very talented lady with absolutely stunning books!!!

Author Bio:
Sue Roberts lives in Lancashire with her long term partner Derek and has had a lifelong love of writing, encouraged by winning a school writing competition at the age of 11.
She always assumed that ‘one day’ she would write a book, always having a busy household and a job, the idea remained firmly on the back burner but never forgotten.
The inspiration for her first novel came to her on a holiday to a Greek village. Her daughters had left home and suddenly the time had come to write that book!
