Book Description
When Christmas is the time of year you hate the most, what does it take to make you love it?
"I've come to the conclusion that Kiltie's books are modern day fairy-tales. There's love, suspense, villains, wishes & dreams fulfilled. I say modern day because you're not going to get the white knight swooping in to rescue the fair helpless maiden but you will have that same swoon-worthy feeling..."
Polly Snowflake hasn't celebrated Christmas since her father died on Christmas Day when she was fifteen years old and, twenty years later, she has avoiding the festive season down to a fine art. That is until she meets Maxwell Watkins, a fully-fledged lover of Christmas, who vows to thaw out her frozen Christmas spirit.
Taking the idea of an advent calendar, Maxwell sets a different ADVENT-ure each day from the 1st to the 24th December, covering all manner of wonderful Christmas delights. As they spend time together, Polly begins to wonder if Christmas is the only thing she’ll be opening her heart to. That is, until Maxwell’s glamourous super-model ex-girlfriend arrives back on the scene...
Will this be a Christmas for Polly to remember or yet another she’ll want to forget?
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'A Snowflake In December' by Kiltie Jackson.
Read and reviewed for Kiltie Jackson and Zooloo's Book Tours.
Publication date 8th October 2022.
This is the first book I have read by this author.
I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing cover and its hilarious sounding synopsis and title. I have also just read several crime, mystery and thriller books so was looking for something more light hearted and this looks like it will fit the bill perfectly.
This novel consists of 48 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in England, UK 🇬🇧 . I always enjoy when books are partly or fully set in the UK as I'm from Wales and have sometimes visited areas mentioned in the book. This makes it easier to picture where the scenes are set at times. I have in fact visited and gone on holiday in England on many occasions so am looking forward to possibly recognising name places.
This book is written in third person perspective and the protagonist is Polly Snowflake. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
🎄 🎅 🎶 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! ☃ ❄ 🤶
What an absolutely fantastic laugh a minute, heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this stunning, unique feel good festive page turner. That good that this is actually the BEST festive book that I have ever read!!
The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!
This is the third festive book I have read this year and I am extremely tempted to put the tree up!! I have read many festive books over the years but this is genuinely the best so far!! This book is an absolutely stunning read that is perfect to lift your spirits!! It is filled with romance, friendship, family, love and of course Christmas!! The vivid descriptions had me feeling the snowflakes in my hair, shivering in the cold, tasting the festive food and seeing the Christmas lights. I absolutely adored the unique storyline of Polly's boss's twin brother trying to being back her love for Christmas by giving her 24 AdventURES. It is absolutely the most romantic thing I have ever seen in any book and I just couldn't wait to see what Maxwell had planned for the next day. Each and every AdventURE was filled with thought and love and I was completely lost in the book exploring all the different "doors" with her. There were some that made me laugh, others made me gasp and a few that shed a tear or two. They were beautiful, thoughtful and sweet as well as being unique. Kiltie takes you through a magical Christmas walk, sledding with Huskies, decorating for Christmas, glass blowing, gift giving and so so much more. This really is the most beautiful book to read before, after or during Christmas. Whether it is a heatwave or you are a Scrooge this book is guaranteed to leave you feeling festive and with a smile on your face. I would absolutely love to see this beauty turned into a movie and I will be at the front of the queue to go and see it!! Kiltie's writing skills will absolutely absorb you into the book and whether you are in the world you will be sucked into the world of lights, snow and magic in the blink of an eye. Move over Maria Karey, A Christmas Carol and Santa Kiltie Jackson is the new face of Christmas!!!
The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely in them all and I already miss them even though I have just closed the pages. I absolutely adored joining Polly Snowflake in her Christmas AdventURES and watching how she changed from someone who dreaded Christmas and hadn't celebrated for 20 years to a big child playing with the Christmas toys was absolutely beautiful to watch. I could literally feel her happiness and Christmas spirit growing. Polly came left London and moved in as a stranger and ended up being surrounded by people who became friends and like family to her. I loved the way she got her job with Marty who is such a larger than life character. Marty and his partner Andy absolutely LOVE Christmas and it is when his brother arranges to deliver their office Christmas tree when the magic begins. Marty made me laugh so many times with his attitudes and work policies. Marty wasn't just Polly's boss but became a good friend and its through him we meet the absolutely gorgeous Maxwell. Maxwell takes Polly on her adventURES and becomes more attractive inside and out with every thoughtful event. When he dressed up at Santa my heart clenched with Polly's and we both had tears running down our eyes. Maxwell definitely wins the award of the most romantic man I have ever "met" in and out of the real world. We definitely need more Maxwells in this world!! I love the fact that both Polly and Maxwell have a love of books being a huge bookworm myself this definitely added a connection!! I also adored Maxwells parents especially his Mum who doesn't mince her words and says it as it is!! Definitely my type of character!!! I absolutely could not stand the attention seeking Laurel and would have loved to give her a good slap!! She definitely gets the award for being the most despised character I have ever met!!! Such a horrible brat!!! Anyway I won't give her any more writing space!! I'm sure you'll see for yourself how I feel! These characters (apart from Laurel) were one of the best group of people I've ever 'met' and they will stay with me for a long time!!
What are you waiting for?!? Pick up my favourite festive feel good page turner and get ready to get sucked in to the stunning scenery and romantic adventures!!!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Kiltie on a HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future amazing books. This is exactly why you are now my FAVOURITE festive author and I cannot wait for your next page turner. Here's to your next success 🥂!

Author Bio
Kiltie Jackson spent her childhood years growing up in Scotland. Most of these early years were spent in and around Glasgow although for a short period of time, she wreaked havoc at a boarding school in the Highlands.
By the age of seventeen, she had her own flat which she shared with a couple of cats for a few years while working as a waitress in a cocktail bar (she’s sure there’s a song in there somewhere!) and serving customers in a fashionable clothing outlet before moving down to London to chalk up a plethora of experience which is now finding its way into her writing.
Once she’d wrung the last bit of fun out of the smoky capital, she moved up to the Midlands and now lives in Staffordshire with one grumpy husband and another six feisty felines.
Her little home is known as Moggy Towers even though, despite having plenty of moggies, there are no towers! The cats kindly allow her and Mr Mogs to share their home as long as the mortgage continues to be paid.
Since the age of three, Kiltie has been an avid reader although it was many years later before she decided to put pen to paper – or fingers to keyboard – to begin giving life to the stories in her head. Her debut novel was released in September 2017 and her fourth book was a US Amazon bestseller in Time Travel Romance.
Kiltie loves to write fiery and feisty female characters and puts the blame for this firmly on the doorsteps of Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables and George Kirrin from The Famous Five.
When asked what her best memories are, Kiltie will tell you:
1. Queuing up overnight outside the Glasgow Apollo to buy her Live-Aid ticket.
2. Being at Live-Aid.
3. Winning an MTV competition to meet Bon Jovi in Sweden.
(Although, if Mr Mogs is in earshot, the latter is changed to her wedding day.)
Her main motto in life used to be “Old enough to know better, young enough not to care!” but that has since been replaced with “Too many stories, can't type fast enough!”
